Homeopathy

Homeopathy as a mode of treatment celebrates 200 years. In Europe and other parts of the world homeopathy is well established. There are homeopathic hospitals which are included in the healthcare system of United Kingdom.

The word homeopathy derives from Greek and means “similar disease”. The substance given in a small dose can produce symptoms or disease in a well person, while in an ill person it will have a healing effect.

As an example we can use a bee sting   which produces swelling redness and a burning pain in a healthy person. Bee venom (in Latin “apis”) is used within homeopathy in  small  doses to treat the symptoms of excessive sunburn.

The founder of homeopathy (Samuel Hahneman 1755-1843) established a system diametrically opposite to traditional prescription medicine. Instead of suppressing symptoms of a disease as in medicine homeopathy uses the self healing capacities of man.

Usage
Samuel Hahneman discovered the amount of substance used can be very small. The remedy can be made of biological material, plants or minerals. This remedy is  prepared according to a special method and is mixed in with water, alcohol or sugar to finally produce a homeopathic remedy.
