| Classic and advanced chiropractic The founder of the chiropractic profession was Daniel D Palmer who in 1895 adjusted a janitor and cured his deafness. Since that time doctors of chiropractic have become the third largest primary care profession in the world. Chiropractors attend university for 5 years and to gain registration in Sweden there is an additional one year of training in the Swedish health care system The closest chiropractic education establishment is at the University of Odense in Denmark. Within chiropractic the classical method of manual adjustment is used, where by the spine and nervous systems are affected. In addition instruments of various kinds can be used. Advanced chiropractic encompasses many post graduate hours of training done abroad. Some of these diagnostic and treatment technique are: applied kinesiology (where acupuncture and reflex techniques are included). Other techniques used by chiropractors are sacro–occipital technique, cranio-sacral technique, nutrition and homeopathy. Some of us are also specialists in, for instance, paediatrics, neurology, and imaging technique.
